Ethereal Empathy

Birth in the age of super computers and robots make us the most technologically advanced generation that the world has witnessed. Comfort is literally at the click of a switch away. In the sense of communicating ideas we have never been so close. Today surgeries are carried out with patients and doctors on two different continents. The amount of data transfer per nanosecond worldwide is astounding. The rate at which the world is progressing is in fact humongous. I have my degree in the field of mechanical engineering and though I never was the star student, I know for a fact the analysis we carry out today is indeed a dream come true for the yesteryear generation.
This brings me to the thought of legacy. There are people who love to live in the nooks of oblivion. The ones who claim legacy and heritage are but a foolish man’s vocabulary. Whatever is the use of crores of rupees in the bank after your death? You wouldn’t be there to reap its benefits nor can you be certain that your hard earned fortune has found the right expense. And then there are the ones who live life to build a legacy and fortune. To them inheritance of this fortune by the heir is their only motivation. Would you live a life so trivial that doesn’t leave a mark behind?
Both such men present their own fetching allurement. The boho and the business man are lost into oblivion and yet have their foot prints strongly etched upon this world. They leave a trail of ethereal empathy that emerges to the generations through their actions. The great humanitarians and the philanthropists leave their legacy and so does the man who chooses to keep his humanitarian efforts unseen or unrecognized. Even the simple act of planting a mango sapling can prove to be a life-saving shade for the worn out traveller.
We as living, thriving animate things on this planet are the creators of this ethereal empathy. Our ability to be able to feel affection gives us the power to create a magical trail.
The geek in me cannot help but make the wonderful comparison of Harry Potter’s mark of protective love that remains in his skin. The protection of love left as a result of Lily’s (Harry’s mum) sacrifice. A love so strong that the mere touch of it burns the hell out of the Dark Lord- Voldermort.
(The ethereal empathy at its strongest)
Our actions and deeds leave this trail of recurring positive or negative actions. This trail is a by-product of our existence. Calamities and destructions only makes it stronger. Whether a terrorist attack, a heinous rape or a quake that shakes humanity our strength and weakness is symbolic of this trail. For better or for worse our actions remain attached to the strengthening of this effect.
We may thus unintentionally leave behind a legacy so hidden from eyes of the observer yet eminent in humanity. So choose your actions wisely.
